City Clerk

The City Clerk's office maintains, protects, and preserves the official records of the City of Iola. Access to our copies of public records may generally be obtained by filing a records request with the City Clerk. The City Clerk prepares the official record (minutes) of each City Council meeting. The office is also responsible for maintaining and updating the City Code, recording and certifying special assessments, receipting most general revenues of the City, coordinating the bid process and taking expressions of interest for City Boards and Council.

The City Clerk provides for planning, control, recording and reporting of all financial matters. This includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury management, including banking and investments, payroll entries, purchasing, and temporary and long term debt management. Coordinates the operation and capital budget process and prepares all budgeting documents. Finally the office coordinates the annual independent audit, and prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
