Administration

The City of Iola operates under the Mayor/ Council/ Administrator form of government. The Mayor and Council set policy, and a professional Administrator implements the policy while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City. 

Administrator Duties

  • Financial Management:  
    • Prepare annual budget for Council's consideration and approval.
    • Administer the adopted budget.
    • Assure fiscal control over City finances.
  • Personnel Managment:
    • Hire and direct staff.
  • Leadership:
    • Advise City Council in all aspects of governmental activities.
    • Facilitate short- and long-term community planning.
    • Research community and organizational issues.
